Good afternoon, I reported a rubbish problem back in February 2018 and described the rubbish that had built up over the years and never been cleared. I tried to send pictures but I struggled to send even via the app. Anyway my reason for contacting you again about this problem is that the Council still didn't collect any of it and since then it had just got worse and worse. A neighbour that lives at the back of me has worked tirelessly clearing away this rubbish in her spare time. She also reported it and tried to get it cleared away but was told it could not be done as Loughborough Road going towards Melton Road would have to be coned off therefore closed to traffic. I think this is a poor excuse as roads are often closed due to roadworks or sporting events. My neighbour felt this did not have to happen as the nearby Outdoor Pursuits has a car park and is just a few metres away, but she was promptly told no this cannot be done, even though she has been carrying the bags full of rubbish away from this area. What I found even more alarming was she asked if she could leave these bags next to her own recycling bin and could they please take them and was told no! She has spent hours and hours of her own time clearing away other people's rubbish for days on end and gets absolutely no help from the Council, and even though we live just inside the Charnwood area we do care about rubbish in the Leicester City Council area, of which many pay their rates to include cleaning streets. She has now requested that now she has done the work and cleared it all to a respectable level that the Council will hopefully keep this area clean, if done regularly it should not require a road closure. As a frequent traveller to Europe I am ashamed the way our councils allow rubbish to build up on motorways, main roads and local streets, it's shocking as you just don't see this when travelling through France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Holland etc. It seems Britain is the litter bin of Europe.
