Description
over several months I have witnessed an increasing amount of Driving Schools using the car park as a practise ground for learners reverse parking into parking bays. While I appreciate they have to practise somewhere, practising in a car park that is often full of children and dogs running around and nearly always full, is quite dangerous. It has been going on a long time but yesterday (Wednesday) I was parked on the grass car park in the shade as were many other people with children as its half term and a learner sped into the grassy area, under instruction by what appeared to be her mother or relative as it just had an L plate and no driving school plates, so no dual controls I would imagine, and tried to reverse park between two parked cars that had lots of very young children milling around them - obviously two families meeting up at the park and the kids running from one car to the next, and the learning trying to reverse between them. The car then sped forwards and repeated the operation in another space next to another car, and then drove off extremely fast through the car park and out the gates. If would have only taken a small child to have been behind the car for them to be run over and without dual controls the learner would not have had assistance. I personally do not think a car park specifically where families, children and dogs are running around should be a place where learners are allowed to practise their reversing skills. Who would be responsible if someone got run over?
