Leicester - Knighton

Description

I am concerned that the building work taking place at 1 Skelton Drive may be causing debris to fall into Saffron Brook which could damage this fragile ecosystem. This includes a sheet of what looks from a distance as though it could be asbestos roofing material. I know that undisturbed asbestos is not harmful but would be reassured to know that there is not more of this or other materials finding their way into the Brook. I am also reporting this to the Saving the Saffron Brook project.

Along Belgrave Gate, a lot of the street lights which are mounted on buildings have not been working for a long time.
This means that several areas of Belgrave Gate are very dark at night, when people are walking along the street.
This is not ideal, because there is a lot of anti social behaviour on Belgrave Gate, and e-bikes and e-scooters being ridden at very fast speeds along the pedestrian areas of Belgrave Gate, so it would be safer if the law abiding people could see where they are going, and see what's coming towards them. -Haymarket Theatre, Garrick Walk, Leicester, UK

The street light (3) outside 201 Knighton Lane East has still not been fixed. I originally reported this issue on 19th May 2026 and nothing looks to have happened, apart from the original report being closed.
It is extremely dark in the evenings outside and it does not create a safe environment, especially as the it is not getting darker earlier in the evenings. Please can this be fixed ASAP, as it has now been nearly 4 months since it was first reported.-201 Knighton Lane East, Leicester, LE2 6FU
